What she overdubbed in New York remains revelatory: Son of a Preacher Man is confident, innocent, and daring, and the vocals on So Much Love rise euphorically with the soulful strings. Those musicians were as good as advertised, easing into arrangements that entwine soft horns, careful guitar, and bass that grooves just enough to make you sway. Dusty in Memphis is the fifth studio album by English singer Dusty Springfield. The Jerry WexlerTom DowdArif Mardin production and engineering team picked mostly perfect songs, and those that weren't so great were salvaged by Springfield's marvelous del. The idea of taking England's reigning female soul queen to the home of the music she had mastered was an inspired one. It marked a new era, as it was the first time that she had recorded an LP outside the UK. When Dusty was in Memphis, visiting from the UK to record an album with the city's hottest R&B musicians, she was too nervous to lay down vocals. Gerry Goffin, King C. This sounds pretty damn good to me. I’d like to know how it compares to the 2019 Abbey Road half speed mastering version though. Anyone done a comparison yet?

This is a nice recording. Side B may need a little clean as it did seem a little more poppy/clicky then A but fine once it had a good wash. Nice and clear sound and really quiet vinyl. No issues that I could hear or any distorted S's. I think a good version to own of a great album. Is there a live version of this? Would love to hear one. And if there is a Mofi or other I would love to hear that too to make a comparison. Technics 1200 MKII, Grado Prestige Red homemade speakers.

This 2017 UK pressing is sounding great to my ears. Clear, balanced, well-mastered. None of the distortion on Dusty's S's (present on the 4WMB pressing). Recommended.

This is a fabulous sounding reissue. I have heard many versions of this record but to get this copy new for £12.50 at HMV was a steal. This is the best that I have heard this record sound. Lovely tonality to Dusty's vocals. Warm and mellow. Like a glorious cup of the best coffee. Beautiful.

Now I have the orginal copy I can say this reissue actually sounds pretty close tontue orginal, warm and natural, much better than the summer of love rhino reissue which is harsh and digital.

Chris Bellman mastered that and did the lacquer cutting. Does it sound like Rhino didn't allow him the tapes to work with, Just the 1999 digital files.

Face B was noisy with many pops. Compared to the AP SACD (sorry don't have the vinyl), the sound quality is very deceiving. Sound seems compressed with less clarity. Some tracks were nearly painful to listen. I don't know if I got a bad copy. I returned it and didn't try an exchange. Will probably buy the AP vinyl.

Same here though also bad on the A side. Unfortunately noticed too late to return it so will probably seek out an alternative pressing or the SACD. Such a shame.

My first impressions of this pressing are positive, it sounds how I hear the record in my head with a rolled off top end and good thick bass. In my opinion this is a fairly accurate representation of the recording, without any big mastering tweaks and that is a good thing.

4men is a piece of trash every way possible ... Analogue Productions is stunning... I have a copy of Abbey Road coming in the mail

I just bought this version of the LP and it appears to me that the mastering information is incorrect. In the deadwax of my LP it has Bazza Alchemy handwritten. Barry Grint 'Bazza' is a mastering engineer at Alchemy. The above information says it is mastered by Pete Norman at Finyl Tweek. How should one go about correcting this?
