Fokus - Fokus Con Proby 1978. Focus 2. Night Flight. Sneezing Bull. Tokyo Rose. Matrix, Runout: Fokus con Proba . Mastering SID Code: IFPI - 93. Focus con Proby is the seventh studio album by the Dutch rock band Focus, released in 1977 on EMI Records. It features five tracks with vocals from American singer P. The record also features guitarists Eef Albers and Philip Catherine, drummer Steve Smith, as well as the two Focus members from previous albums. In a mixed review in the Richmond Review reviewer Bob Beech preferred the instrumental tracks over the songs with vocals. He deemed Proby's voice more mellow than his previous records. Focus are a Dutch progressive rock band formed in Amsterdam in 1969 by keyboardist, vocalist, and flautist Thijs van Leer. The band has undergone numerous formations in its history. Since December 2016, it has comprised van Leer, drummer Pierre van der Linden, guitarist Menno Gootjes, and bassist Udo Pannekeet. Past members include guitarist Jan Akkerman, drummer Hans Cleuver and bassists Martijn Dresden, Bert Ruiter and Bobby Jacobs. They have. In idle hours, one can regret that the team never tried its hand at what remains one of the most legendary jewels in the Focus archive, the lyric-laden version of Sylvia that Van Leer wrote but, apparently, never recorded in the late 1960s - with its haunting guitar backdrop, Eddy comes close, but it's not quite the same thing. Overall, however, it's difficult to fault the music these two unlikely poles did conjoin to create, rendering Focus Con Proby one of the most unexpected triumphs in the entire Focus catalog. And one of the best things Proby has ever done. The great Jan Akkerman has gone. Of course, another great guitarist is hired and this guy is really gifted. I guess that the fully jazz-orientation of this album has something to do with Philip Catherine's presence. Actually, Focus Con Proby could have been considered a fairly good soft jazz-rock album, if only. it had not bear the name FOCUS And if certain P. Proby had not sung. Focus' last living outburst recorded anyway in the 70's is this strange collab between a now-almost comatosed Focus and this English singer PJ Proby a one-hit wonder from the 60's and unlike what was to be feared, this album is not as bad as you'd have believed. Oil in the Family. Jan Akkerman. 0 out of 5 stars 3. This album is sort of a Focus reunion from 1985. That is Jan Akkerman and Thijs van Leer with a host of anonymous musicians backing them up. Well, '70s Focus fans expecting a continuation of Moving Waves, Focus 3, or Hamburger Concerto will probably want to pass on this. This album is totally 1985. Focus also ventured into Jazz with Mother Focus, Focus con Proby and BBC. On those albums, I thought that they were a lot more successful. This is a very rare album. Focus is a studio album by Dutch musicians Jan Akkerman and Thijs van Leer, released in 1985 on Vertigo Records. The album's name is due to the only original members on the record being guitarist Jan Akkerman and flautistkeyboardist Thijs van Leer. Track listing. Progressive Rock. Focus Con Proby.
